An introduction to sourdough bread

Join the and artisan baker, Julia Georgallis for an easygoing Saturday afternoon of sourdough bread making for absolute beginners. In a city where it’s ok to be a bit slower, learn all about the benefits of the ultimate slow food.

Please bring a glass jar or an empty container so you can take home some yeast at the end of the workshop!

Note: Cancellation and reimbursement it’s not permitted after the ticket it’s paid, but someone else can come to replace you.

PROGRAM

  • Bread making basics
  • How to make sourdough focaccia
  • How to make a sourdough loaf that you will take home and bake
  • How to make sourdough crumpets which we will eat during the class as part of tea time.
  • How to care for your own starter and the various kinds of yeasts (fresh and dried, levain, poolish, biga and sourdough starter) needed for breadmaking.

Is an artisan baker from London who has recently moved to Lisbon. She’s the founder of nomadic microbakery, The Bread Companion, a moving micro bakery that travels around encouraging people to eat, buy and bake their own bread.
